Downstream
Cruise (Thai border-Luang Prabang)
After completing Thai immigration formalities, our Luangsay staff will help you transfer across to Laos using small river taxis.
Our Luangsay staff in Houei Say (Houayxay) will then welcome you to
Laos and help with Lao immigration formalities. Our Luangsay office is
right next to the Lao immigration so we can make you comfortable while
you are waiting for the rest of the passengers to arrive.
(You can check the frequently asked questions for more specific details)
We will then transfer everyone to the Luangsay cruise boat which is
parked at the slow boat pier in Houei Say (about 1 kilometre out of the
town centre). Every slow boat docks here from huge dirty Chinese cargo
boats, to small cross-river ferries, to long low-slung Lao passenger
boats and many more.

Laos to Thailand : a litle sad departure
___
Upstream Cruise (Luang Prabang - Thai border)
Our
LuangSay cruise boat arrives into the Houai Sai slow boat pier around
4.30-5.00pm. The slow boat pier is about 1 kilometre away from the
centre of Houei Say and the Lao immigration. We organise a transfer
to take you and your luggage from our LuangSay boat to the immigration
point. There is no departure tax to pay when you leave Laos. The
borders do not close until 6.00pm so you have plenty of time to process
through immigration for both countries when you arrive at the border.
After completing Lao immigration formalities, our Luangsay staff will
help you transfer across to Thailand using small river taxis.
Most foreigners from western countries can enter Thailand on a 30 day
visa free stay. This means they stamp your passport and you can enter,
but you dont need to pay or buy a visa. To do this you need to have an
onward flight ticket out of Thailand within one month.
